Sporting the same modern, blocky and appealing styling cues as the new Citroen C3 and Citroen e-C3 hatchback, the new Citroen C3 Aircross arrives in the UK later this year as one of the few affordable SUVs with seven-seat practicality.
A bigger car overall than the current Citroen C3 Aircross, this new model will also be available in fully-electric Citroen e-C3 Aircross guise for the first time.
The new Citroen C3 Aircross is a model with few rivals, certainly those sized under 4.5 metres long. Its most obvious competitor is the clever Dacia Jogger, another ingenious model with a full seven-seat interior that has the appeal of low prices, which start from under £18,500.
The new Citroen C3 Aircross will also compete with the new Vauxhall Frontera, another recently-revealed value-priced small SUV.
The new Citroen C3 Aircross will open for orders in the UK later this year. First deliveries may begin towards the end of the year or, more likely, in early 2025.
New Citroen C3 Aircross prices have not yet been announced. It is expected they will start at around £20,000.
The new Citroen C3 Aircross has been previewed ahead of its full global reveal this summer. It shows a clear evolution over the current Citroen C3 Aircross, growing in size and assertiveness to become a more muscular and robust small SUV.
The new Citroen C3 Aircross is an even tougher-looking sister car to the new Citroen C3 and Citroen e-C3 supermini. It has beefy wheelarches, a higher ride height, big wheels, robust bumpers and a set of super-practical roof rails.
At the front, the new Citroen C3 Aircross has a high and horizontal bonnet, which is enhanced by wider wings that accommodate the broader tracks. The new Citroen logo features boldly at the front, while the LED running lights boast three distinctive illuminated segments.
The new Citroen C3 Aircross has two-tone paint options, while colour clips on the bumper and the rear quarter panel add customisation options.
Overall, the new Citroen C3 Aircross measures 4.39 metres long. It also has the longest wheelbase in its segment, which promises particularly impressive legroom for rear passengers.
The new Citroen C3 Aircross has a clever rear quarter panel design and near-horizontal tailgate, which will also help improve passenger space in the third row. The rearmost seats also fold flat to create a roomy boot when not in use.
Interior images of the new Citroen C3 Aircross have not yet been revealed, but expect a modern and fun layout similar to the new Citroen C3 and Citroen e-C3.
Technical details of the new Citroen C3 Aircross have not yet been revealed. It is likely to offer a similar range of powertrains as the new Citroen C3, though – including an all-electric new Citroen e-C3 Aircross variant.
The popular 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo engine will be the core choice in the line-up. A range of power outputs will be offered, including 100PS and 130PS versions, with both manual and automatic gearboxes. A mild hybrid version is also likely, but there will not be a new Citroen C3 Aircross with a diesel engine.
The new Citroen e-C3 Aircross will use parent company Stellantis Group’s latest affordable electric car setup to deliver EV motoring at an affordable price.
The cheapest will probably use a 44kWh battery, for a range of around 160 miles, while a larger battery will take the range nearer to 250 miles.
Again, more details of the new Citroen C3 Aircross powertrains and performance will be revealed in the summer.
The new Citroen C3 Aircross measures 4.39 metres long. This makes it more compact than the Dacia Jogger, which is 4.57 metres long. Its exterior dimensions are similar to a Volkswagen Golf.
The new Citroen C3 Aircross has a range of hybrid and petrol engines – but the new Citroen e-C3 Aircross will be fully electric. More details on this will follow in the summer.
The new Citroen C3 Aircross is a seven-seat small SUV. This is a rarity in the sector, and will be sure to help the new model stand out.
