Approved Used explained
What benefits are included?
MG might not be the British builder of sports cars it once used to be, but the Chinese-owned brand's range of practical family cars and SUVs will be more relevant to more people.
MG cars are keenly priced as it is, but you can save even more money on cars like the MG HS, ZS and the impressive ZS EV and MG4 by buying them on the MG Approved Used scheme. Here we explain exactly what it entails and why it could be your best bet if you're shopping for a new MG.
Approved Used MGs come with the balance of the manufacturer's warranty but as that covers you for seven years or 80,000 miles – you should still have plenty of cover to play with, even when you're buying second hand. You might also want to check out our guides to the best cars with a 7-year warranty or 5-year warranty if you're looking for a car with a long warranty.
The MG Approved Used car scheme doesn't provide MOT cover with its cars.
There certainly is. All cars on the MG Approved Used scheme are subject to a 130-point check so any gremlins should be ironed out before the cars are put up for sale.
You bet it does. All cars are checked to ensure they haven't been written off or stolen and don't have any outstanding finance. The mileage is also verified and all cars come with a full main dealer service history.
Unfortunately, MG doesn't offer an exchange policy, so you'll have to rely on the Consumer Rights Act if you have a problem with the car.
Cars that are less than 12 months old will be supplied with the balance of one year's UK breakdown cover and all cars come complete with seven-day driveaway insurance.
The MG3 is the cheapest model in the range, a low-priced small hatch that offers good equipment for the money, while the ZS is a small SUV crossover with good space at a reasonable price. The HS SUV crossover brings added quality and lots of practicality. MG also makes a number of impressive electric vehicles, including the MG5 estate, the ZS EV and the MG4 hatchback.
MG's Longbridge site has been in operation since 1906 and during World War II it made tank parts and munitions. Today it's home to MG Motors' UK technical centre.
