Find out what drives us

Does it cost anything to use?

In a word, no. heycar is completely free to use for anyone searching for their next used car.

Do you sell cars?

We don't sell cars ourselves. But we do feature the best quality cars available from selected dealers on our website. Once you've found the car you want, you just buy it from the dealer directly.

How can I contact you?

We’d love to hear from you on email or live chat. Our switched-on customer team is here to help from 8am to 8pm, Monday to Friday. Or feel free to email us any time at hey@heycar.co.uk.

Which car brands will I find on heycar?

You'll find lots of top car brands on our website, so chances are we'll list the one you're after. If you know what brand you want, you can easily filter by 'Make' when searching.

What finance options are there?

You'll find a breakdown of the most widely available finance options on our website. Once you're ready to start crunching some numbers, your dealer will create a full quote with all the details you need to make a decision. And just so you know, all our selected dealers are legally allowed to promote and sell finance for their vehicles.

Do you list electric and hybrid cars?

Yes, absolutely. And now's the perfect time to make the switch if you haven't already. Search for electric and hybrid vehicles.

You say all cars have a warranty. What does that include?

Each car comes with a warranty that lets you drive away worry-free from the forecourt. Many newer cars will still be within their original manufacturer warranty. Others may come with specific schemes that give you enhanced protection, such as 'Das Welt Auto' by Volkswagen. But as a bare minimum, you can expect at least 30 days' warranty. Just in case.

What's a quality check?

Your quality check assesses the car from boot to bonnet, and is performed onsite at the dealership by a skilled technician. Many of our selected dealers follow the manufacturer's approved used car standard. Others use the AA's recommended 128-point vehicle check before approving it for sale – and some go even further. Learn more about what's checked.

What do you mean by 'under 8 years old'?

This means that the car was first registered less than 8 years ago.

How do you check a car's identity?

With heycar, there's much less risk of unwelcome surprises. A vehicle history check verifies that your car hasn't been declared stolen, exported, scrapped or written off for insurance purposes.

How do you select your dealers?

We only work with selected dealers that we'd buy a car from ourselves. It's what heycar is all about – choosing the best, most reputable dealers we can find and listing only their highest quality cars.

Who do I speak to if I have a problem with my car?

It's usually best to speak directly with your dealer about any issues with your car. But if you need more help or even just the dealer's contact details, our customer team is right here on live chat, from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday.

I've got a question. What do I do?

Our switched-on customer service team is here to help, wherever you are in your search. Just drop us a line on live chat between 8am and 8pm, Monday to Friday. Or email hey@heycar.co.uk.

I've had a bad experience with a dealer. What can I do?

We're sorry to hear if you've had a less-than-ideal experience. Please email hey@heycar.co.uk with all the details and we’ll look into it for you.

We only want to work with the best dealers we can find, so we regularly collect customer feedback and stay in touch with our dealers to ensure we're giving you the best possible experience.

I'm not sure the price I'm looking at is right. How can I tell?

Our selected dealers price every listed car at its current market rate. If you've asked us to value your car for trade-in, the prices on our website will auto-magically update to reflect the trade-in price.

We use a range of industry data to calculate your car's trade-in value, including its current condition.

Our customer team is here to help on live chat between 8am and 8pm, Monday to Friday. Or email hey@heycar.co.uk.

Why does the same car appear twice on the website?

If you see a car listed twice, it's not a bug. This actually shows the dealer will go the extra mile – quite literally – as they'll list the car in their location as well as other locations where they're happy to drive it.

A car I was looking at isn't there any more. What happened?

If a car listing disappears, that probably means it's been sold. But don't worry – our customer team is here to help you find the car you were always meant to have. You can reach us on live chat between 8am and 8pm, Monday to Friday. Or email hey@heycar.co.uk.

How do I make a complaint?

We're sorry to hear if you've had a less-than-ideal experience with heycar. That's literally the opposite of what we're here for. Please email hey@heycar.co.uk to tell us what’s gone wrong and we’ll look into it for you.

I'd love to work for heycar. How do I apply?

How can I list my dealership's cars on your site?

We love being introduced to top-tier used car dealers. Signing up is super easy too. Join the heycar family.

Is my data safe with heycar?

Absolutely. We know that data privacy is super important to you, so we've dedicated a whole page to it. Got a privacy question or request? Email privacy@heycar.co.uk.

What's a grey import? Do you sell them?

A grey import is a car that's been legally imported by someone other than the manufacturer – usually when someone moves overseas, brings their car with them and then decides to sell it.

We do sell grey imports, but these aren't too common. Your dealer will be able to give you more detail, but rest assured that a history check will reveal if a car's a grey import.

Can I find out if a car is allowed in London's Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ)?

You sure can. Just look out for the ticked 'ULEZ' symbol below the photos on each car's listing page.

How do I find out the congestion charge I'd need to pay in London?

You'll probably have to pay the congestion charge if you drive within the Congestion Charging Zone between 7am and 6pm, Monday to Friday. But there are some exemptions, depending on personal circumstances and the level of vehicle emissions.*

You can use heycar to easily see a car's emissions to check if you'd be exempt. For more details, head over to TfL's useful Congestion Charge page.
