What is heycar?

heycar is an online marketplace where you can find a car you'll really love. We only list the best quality cars from selected dealers across the UK on our website. All our cars are under 8 years old and have less than 100,000 miles on the clock so you can be sure you’re in safe hands. They also come with a warranty and a 10-day money back guarantee, to give you complete peace of mind.

Do you sell cars?

We don't sell cars ourselves. We feature the best quality cars available from selected dealers on our website. Once you've found the perfect car, you can buy it online with heycar or contact the dealer to buy it.

Do you do part exchange?

We don’t do part exchange and don’t buy cars ourselves, but we can tell you how much your old car is worth, you can then sell it via our partner Motorway, or use the value to trade it in with the dealer. 

Can I sell my car on heycar privately?

No, we don’t accept private car sales on heycar. We only sell cars from selected dealers. 

Do you sell Left-Hand-Drive cars?

We don’t offer any left hand drive cars on heycar. 

Do you deliver cars internationally?

Our dealers don't usually ship internationally. If you’re interested in getting your car delivered overseas, this will need to be arranged privately by a logistics company. 

Do you sell mobility cars?

We don’t offer any mobility cars. If you’re interested in finding out more about motability and searching for cars that are Motability compatible, please visit Motability.co.uk.

We're sorry to hear if you've had a less than ideal experience. We only want to work with the best dealers we can find, so we regularly collect customer feedback and stay in touch with our dealers to ensure we're giving you the best possible experience. Is my data safe with heycar?

Does it cost anything to use heycar?

In a word, no. heycar is completely free to use for anyone searching for their next used car.

Car Questions

You say all cars have a warranty. What does that include?

You can expect at least a 30 day warranty with every car that is provided by the dealer you decide to buy from, so you can drive away worry-free.

Many newer cars sold on heycar will still be within their original manufacturer warranty (this is the warranty included on the car when it’s bought brand new). Others may come with specific schemes from the manufacturers or dealers that give you enhanced protection, such as 'Das Welt Auto' by Volkswagen that ensure used cars are in tip-top shape and approved quality. 

What's a quality check?

The quality check assesses the car from boot to bonnet, and is done onsite at the dealership by a skilled technician. Many of our dealers follow the manufacturer's approved used car standard. Others use the AA's recommended 128-point vehicle check before approving it for sale – and some go even further. The car I was looking at isn't there any more. What happened?

If a car listing disappears, that probably means it's been sold. But don't worry – heycar has a great selection to choose from and our customer service team is here to help you find the perfect car you were always meant to have. Who do I speak to if I have a problem with my car?

It's usually best to speak directly to the dealer about any issues with your car. But if you need more help or even just the dealer's contact details, our customer team is right here to help, simply email us at hey@heycar.co.uk or speak to us on live chat 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday or 9am to 5pm Saturday to Sunday.

Which car brands will I find on heycar?

You'll find all of the top car brands on our website, so chances are we'll list the one you're after. If you know what brand you want, you can easily filter by 'Make' when searching.

Do you offer electric and hybrid cars?

Yes, absolutely. And now's the perfect time to make the switch if you haven't already. If you’re interested in electric or hybrid cars we have a great selection on site to explore.

How do you check a car's history?

A vehicle history check verifies that your car hasn't been declared stolen, exported, scrapped or written off for insurance purposes, so there’s much less risk of an unwelcome surprise.

Can I find out if a car is allowed in London's Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ)?

You sure can. Just look out for the ticked 'ULEZ' symbol below the photos on each car's listing page.

How do I find out the congestion charge I'd need to pay in London?

You'll probably have to pay the congestion charge if you drive within the Congestion Charging Zone in London between 7am and 10pm, every day of the year (except 25th December). But there are some exemptions, depending on personal circumstances and the level of  emissions your car releases.*

What's a grey import? Do you sell them?

A grey import is a car that's been legally imported by someone other than the manufacturer – usually when someone moves overseas, brings their car with them and then decides to sell it.

We do sell grey imports, but these aren't very common. The dealer will be able to give you more detail, but rest assured that a history check will reveal if a car's a grey import so you can make an informed decision.

Do you sell car parts?

We don’t offer car parts. You’ll need to contact a local garage if you have any issues with your car or are looking for new parts.

Finance Questions

Do you offer cars on finance? What finance options do you offer?

We offer two different types of finance payment options: PCP (Personal Contract Plan) and HP (Hire Purchase). With PCP you pay for the car in monthly instalments for a set period of time. After the end of the term, you have the option to either return the car, swap the car for a new agreement or pay the outstanding amount so you own the car.

On Hire Purchase, you follow a similar pattern with the deposit and monthly payments, but the overall amount you pay is higher as there’s no outstanding sum at the end of the fixed term. The car is fully yours. Head to our finance page for more details. 

I currently have a car on a finance contract, but I'd like a new one, can I get out of my contract?

We can’t give you advice on individual finance contract, but usually your options are:
1. Sell the car privately
2. Part exchange your car and put the value towards  the new car
3. Sell the car through our partner Motorway 

Do you offer cars with 0% APR?

No, we don’t offer 0% APR on any cars. 

I’ve got bad credit, will I still be able to get a finance deal?

Unfortunately we can’t give you any advice on bad credit as a lot of the outcome  depends on your personal situation, the dealer and the lender. The best way to find out what’s possible is to speak to the dealer directly.

How do you select your dealers?

It's what heycar is all about – choosing the best, most reputable dealers we can find and listing only their highest quality cars.

Where do I find my concierge activation token?

After enquiring about a car, you’ll get an email from us inviting you to activate heycar concierge. The email will have the unique token that you need to use to sign up. If you are having trouble finding the email, please contact us at hey@heycar.co.uk and we’ll be more than happy to help.

My concierge activation token isn’t working. Who can help me?

Your activation token should match the number plate or registration of the car you bought. The code will be sent to you in an email so keep an eye on your inbox. If you’re still having issues registering for heycar concierge, please reach out to our team via email at hey@heycar.co.uk.

What’s a money back guarantee?

If for any reason you don’t love your car after you’ve bought it, we offer you the reassurance of a 10 day money back guarantee period so you can get a full refund. 

What do I need to do to be eligible for the 10 day money back guarantee?

In order to be eligible for our 10 day money back guarantee, you’ll need to submit an enquiry on the car you're interested in through the heycar site and proceed to purchase that vehicle within 10 days of submitting your enquiry. After the purchase, if you are unhappy with the car for any reason, you need to contact our team by 12pm on the 10th day following your purchase.

I’m getting my car delivered. Will the 10 day period start from the date of the delivery or the date of the sale?
